4. Local Improvement Adviser support

The Local Improvement Adviser (LIA) programme is a £3 million fund from the Department for Communities and Local Government managed regionally by Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships. 

Local Improvement Advisers (LIAs) provide free expert support to partnership working. LIAs are available to provide advice, coaching, training and mentoring to partnerships to help them to deliver public services through the new performance framework and LAA/MAAs. Support is provided in days, which means there are no complicated financial transactions or costly recruitment processes involved.  This can also enable support to be made available to the partnership in a matter of weeks.

LIAs can provide support across the following core partnership service delivery areas and cross cutting themes:

  • Local Economy and Worklessness

  • Support for Improved Public Services at the Local Level.
