Training and Events

Many of our courses can be adapted for in-house delivery and can be specifically tailored to meet individual needs.

Sometimes due to reasons beyond our control a course has to be cancelled or postponed.  We will advise nominating officers and applicants immediately of such a decision.  Please note in exceptional circumstances we may have to make changes at short notice to the content (to reflect changes in legislation, current thinking or topical issues), timing, speakers and/or venue.

Advanced Award in Management of Gypsy & Traveller Sites

Course Duration:

Approximately 100 hours over 40 weeks

Description:

This is a comprehensive programme for anyone involved with Gypsy and Traveller issues. The qualification has been designed specifically for those working in this environment and has been accredited by Edexcel at Level 3.  The qualification has been recommended as being advantageous by DCLG in the Good Practice Guide 2009

Aim:

The programme gives a balanced mix of residential learning and guided practical work in the field. The price is fully inclusive, and covers attendance on both residential courses, in addition to the awarding organisation’s registration, assessment, verification and certification fees.

Content:

  • Carry out working procedures for the management of sites
  • Meet health and safety requirements to maintain a safe environment
  • Understand the history, culture and traditions of the Gypsy and Traveller community
  • Operate and apply relevant legislation to comply with statutory requirements regarding Gypsy & Traveller site provision
  • Carry out procedures and recording arrangements to meet legal requirements for unauthorised encampments
  • Explain the requirements of Central Government and Local Government policies in the management of Gypsy and Traveller sites.

How it is assessed:  To successfully gain the qualification, you will submit evidence through a series of six assignments to meet the award outcomes and attend both 3-day residential training events:

The assignments are based on your knowledge built up from attending the residentials and are also based upon real or realistic work place situations gathered from your daily working activities.
